We have passed many volcanoes on the road but Volcano Osorno (2,700m) on Lake Llanquipe captivated us for days. Again, locals and fellow bikers had recommended a visit here but we had little information about what we could do here. A winding road gave us spectacular views of the lake & summit. Then, chairlifts took us to base of the ice cap and gave us views out over the waves of jagged ridgelines that are the Andes. It looked as though we could walk to the top but it was still a kilometre further above us. We had the most scenic picnic of our lives up there. This was closely rivalled by having a sunset dinner on our campsite’s beach.
